Description
In 1771 Spanish Franciscan Father Junipero Serra ( canonized in 2015), founded his third mission in Alta California (the state of California today) and named it after Saint Anthony of Padua, Italy. In the 1950s it was restored and still holds services to this day. It is located inland in the Valley of the Oaks adjacent to Hunter Liggett, an army training base.
